"Hey Gio! Me, Andrea, Riccardo and the other guys are going out tonight, are you coming with us?"
"What are you planning to do?"
"We'll just relax and get a beer or two. We are meeting in Piazza Maggiore at 10 pm"
"Ok, no problem! See you there."
Just the usual night a the pub, that's it. WRONG.
Nothing really exciting happened...but there's something about the events that took place tonight. I didn't understand a thing about them, and I didn't expect these things to actually happen.
Ok, we're in Piazza Maggiore (the biggest plaza in Bologna). There's nobody there except me and Antonio, and that's quite strange. We're waiting for Riccardo, who doesn't show up. Then this girl comes out of nowhere.
"Hey Gio...check this girl out! She's gorgeous."
"Hell yeah...she is!"
She sits down, and we sit like five metres to her left. We don't even talk about her, she's just too beautiful to talk about. Then...
Antonio: "Let's go to that pub...the Celtic Druid, and have a beer."
Me: "Nah...I don't really like that place.."
Girl: "Hey guys! Do you know a place around here where I can drink a beer?"
Me: "SURE!! What about the Celtic Druid?!"
Girl: "Oh....I don't know where it is..."
Me: "We could take you there!"
Girl: "Ok, thank you!"
What the hell is happening here? Ok, I've got a pretty low self-esteem, but that girl was just not suppost to invite me and my friend to take a drink. My brain didn't even expect that one to be a valid option.
This girl (we didn't even ask her name! goddamnit! we were just too shocked, I guess) almost outdrank me at the pub! Wow! But I'm not gonna let a woman defeat me easily. If, someday, I find a woman who can beat me at drinking beer...well I'll probably marry her! (I don't really care if she's willing...)
Anyway, she had got to meet up with a friend an hour after we met. So we just got out of the pub, and there she is! They hug, then her friends give her THAT look. The meaning was...terribly clear to tell the truth: "Who the FUCK are these guys?".
"Bye! Have fun!" And none of us asked the girl for her phone number. That would have been quite useless, anyway.
"That was so random."
Then we got back to the plaza waiting for some friends to show up. "Where the hell are they?"
Then a guy we had never seen before starts talking about how good his weed is. He wanted us to buy some. He kept on talking about weed for half an hour, making us consider commiting suicide.
After that we got to this other pub I had never seen before. I'm not gonna tell you anything about what happened in there. It looked like a movie from Lynch.
When we got out, we figured out that there was a lot of police around. We had never seen so many police cars in our city before. Then two guys show up, mistaking us for drug pushers. Don't ask me why.
We hanged around with these two guys, then finally met Riccardo. He said to me my ex-girlfriend (to whom I speak almost everyday) asked him to tell me that I should at least "say hi" sometimes.
Now, what the hell?! The girl, the police, nobody in the streets, the pub, the two guys we hanged around with, then this... Absolutely senseless...I say.
Didn't I make it even worse by telling you this story? I guess I should sleep more. Much more. Especially when I work 8 hours in a row.
